Zunächst
einmal vielen Dank für all die Geburtstagsgrüße!
Seit
aller Schwierigkeiten immer weiter.
So
Banka Banka Cattle Station.
An
meinem 22.
Tennant Creek. Lustigerweise hielten an diesem Tag gleich 2 mal
So
First of all thanks so much for all your birthday greetings!
Since Katherine, where I was able to write the last time, there is not soo much to write about.
Particularly I have gone through 700km road without even one real village. Very worthwhile was a stop at Bitter Springs in Mataranka, about 100km behind Katherine. In the crystal clear water of the hot springs it is very nice to relax.I spent the night with a few new friends in the Elsey Nationalpark and they invited me to a super supper together.
After Bitter Springs it became rougher. Brocken spokes and the first punkture tyre stopped me.It was specially difficult because the heat of the road litterly melted the patches. With tempratures up to 40°C and dispite all difficulties I simply carried on.
One of the few highlights on the Stuart Highway are the roadhouses that often are next to a gas station, a campingplace and a pub. For example I stopped and got a break at the pink panter pub or at the Daly Waters pub. The people that I met here are quiet original, but often also a bit strange. Old cowboys, sitting at the bar telling everybody their story...
I usually dicided to put up my tent a bit further away from the road in the outback. Like that I had my peace and could sleep undisturbed. Except a few kangaroos and cows and many birds you do not meet anybody else.
The night to the 14.September I slept on the campingplace of the Banka Banka Cattle Station. Here nowadays the 1100 cattle on this hugh area are not rounded up by cowboys with their horses any more.On the morning of my birthday a helicopter landed next to my tent, it had been ordered from Tennent Creek to drive the cattle. With quiet expressiv flight maneuvers the pilot drove the animals along.
On my 22. birthday I cycled from Banka Banka about 107km to Tennent Creek. Funny enough even twice people stopped to offer me colddrinks and cake! Because I spent so much time talking to other travellers , eating cake and watching helicopters and "only" reparing two tyres I arrived at Tennent Creek quiet late and after a quick supper fell into my tent exhausted and slept well.
That much to the events of the last days. By this time I have made 1150km through the hot, dusty and dry outback on my bycle although it´s realy hard, I am still motivated to take the next 2500 km.
I would like to thank you all once more very much for my birthday present!
Thanks to Clara´s post on facebook enough money was collected, sothat I could afford this bike and the trailer.
Thank you very much to my friends and my family!
